Job Description

Aga Khan Academy Mombasa, the first campus in the Aga Khan Academies network and an International Baccalaureate World School, invites recent graduates to join its boarding community as an Academy Fellow. Fellows live in an on-campus apartment and act as Residential Parents to students, while also supporting classroom learning, leading the weekly Service-Learning Programme for Years 6 to 10, and enriching co-curricular life. Admission is means-blind and merit-based, so the student body includes talented learners from marginalised communities across Kenya. This is not a classroom teaching post. It combines mentoring, tutoring, community partnerships and pastoral care, and suits someone eager to help shape young leaders in the developing world. The vacancy is offered by the Aga Khan Schools, an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. Vacancy reference: 5007BR. Applications close on 30 October 2026.

Undertake official supervision duties twice a week and one weekend in every three.

Mentoring: Mentor a small group of students, supporting their academic progress, social development and adjustment to school life.

Academic support: Spend approximately 10 hours per week engaging with two or three classes in a subject of your choice, then provide additional tutoring after school and during residential study periods. Priority areas include Mathematics, Science and English as an Additional Language, particularly for students admitted through the Talent Identification Programme.

Service-Learning leadership: Plan and deliver the weekly Service-Learning Programme for Years 6–10, requiring approximately 10 hours per week. Develop activities, coordinate with community partners, lead sessions for students and colleagues, and guide student groups as they develop and implement their projects.

Co-curricular contribution: Enrich student life by coaching a sports team, providing music lessons, or leading a club such as gardening, cooking, debating, Model United Nations (MUN) or TEDx. You may also support students applying to leading international universities through SAT preparation and feedback on essays and personal statements.

Trips and outings: Accompany students on off-campus residential trips and day excursions, including visits to places of worship, helping ensure their safety and wellbeing.

Community life: Participate actively in Academy events, uphold the institution’s values, and collaborate with teachers, residential staff and fellow Academy Fellows.
